ABOUT OUR STAFF

Sheriff (Ret) Currie Myers
Sheriff (Ret) Currie Myers has worked in law enforcement for over 20 years, and has been recognized nationwide for his outstanding achievements in fighting and preventing crime.

His professional career began nearly two decades ago, when Myers took his first job as a state trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1985. He advanced from the patrol in 1990 to serve as a special agent with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), often working undercover in field operations and as a task force agent for the U.S. Customs Service and Drug Enforcement Administration.

In 1996, Myers was promoted to KBI's regional office in Kansas City, where he worked in field operations, homicide investigations and public corruption cases. In 1998, he was assigned as the special agent/manager of the KBI’s Clandestine Lab Response program to combat the manufacturing of illegal synthetic drugs.

Myers is considered an expert in investigating and responding to clandestine laboratory sites and is a published author on the subject including a textbook on the response to clandestine lab sites. He has been recognized nationwide for his outstanding achievements by KBI, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Marines, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Kansas Chief's Association, the Kansas City Police Department and CrimeStoppers, Inc. But perhaps his greatest accomplishment was fulfilling a life-long dream in 2003, when he was sworn in as Johnson County's 28th Sheriff.

In addition to his professional experiences, Myers also has an outstanding academic background. He holds a doctorate in criminal justice and a master's degree in business administration.

Myers is the CEO of Sheriff Myers & Associates (SMA), a public safety consulting company specializing in reducing security risks for companies and organizations as well as providing government relations services. SMA is located in Kansas City and is strategically aligned with three different organizations. The Wexford Group International (WGI) a defense contractor located near Washington D.C; Integrity Correctional Centers (ICC), a private, faith based jail located near Kansas City, Missouri; and he serves as the executive director of the Missing Sexual Offender Center.

MARIA HOLIDAY
Maria Holiday is a long time educator and business woman. She is an active participant in local and state politics, having served in a variety of positions over the years. She has been an educator for 18 years, teaching in public and private schools. She owned and operated her own early childhood center for 10 years.

In 1998 Ms. Holiday was featured on 60 Minutes in an interview with Ed Bradley concerning the civil commitment of sexual predators and the constitutionality of "Stephanie's Law". She founded the political action group, Kansas Women for Accountable and Responsible Government in 2002. She has testified before the Kansas Legislature on sexual predators and sentencing guidelines, providing both oral and written statements. She was a featured speaker at a press conference supporting the Attorney General Phill Kline's attempt to prosecute child rapists in Kansas in 2005. In 2006 she received the Kansas City Kindness Award after being nominated by a former student.

Ms. Holiday's personal experience with sexual abuse and the problem with repeat offenders has led her to work tirelessly to promote the health and safety of Kansas Children. Her own attacker was found guilty of five subsequent felonies of sex crimes against children. He plea bargained repeatedly, served insignificant sentences, was released and reoffended. He is currently free and not required to register as a sexual offender. This type of common situation is what drove Holiday to fight for tougher laws like Jessica's Law. Now she strives to educate the community on the inaccuracies of the sexual offender registries and enlist their help in apprehending absconders.

Ms. Holiday is an independent consultant for the health and wellness company, Arbonne International. Arbonne International is a direct sales company that markets botanically based, pure safe and beneficial personal care products for all ages. Holiday serves as the President and Director of Community Education for the Missing Sexual Offender Center. She is available to speak to groups of any size regarding the issues surrounding our state and national sexual offenders registries and the mission of the Missing Sexual Offender Center.
